What is Advent?
Advent is a season of watching and waiting. We watch and wait for the coming of Jesus. While we tend to think of Advent as a preparation for Christmas, it has a future orientation.
Advent “looks beyond history and awaits Jesus Christ’s coming again ‘in glory to judge the living and the dead.” In other words, Advent “is the season of the last things.” (Fleming Rutledge)
